SENSES IN ARCHITECTURE, URBAN LANDSCAPING AND DESIGN

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS 

Experimentation seems to be an attractive, integral, and indispensable element of the design process – for objects, spaces, and entire environments. It takes various forms, encompasses many aspects, occurs in many contexts, and has numerous consequences.

This year’s conference will examine the importance (and need?) of experimentation in the theory and practice of design, architecture, and urban planning; experimentation broadly understood, explicit and implicit; interdisciplinary, transcultural, global, and regional. Its costs and benefits, its natural/environmental, cultural, social, economic, health, and legal consequences, and the difficulties associated with its implementation.

The Organisers invite academics as well as practitioners to submit abstracts for papers related to the following topics:

The Organisers also encourage submissions that fall outside the above topics or the architecture and urban planning field, but are related to the conference theme.

Important Dates

• submission of abstracts for conference papers (via the registration form): September 10 to October 31
• notification of acceptance of papers: November 5
• registration of passive participants: September 10 to November 20
• registration and conference fees (for active and passive participation): November 6–20 
• conference: December 5–7, 2025, University of Silesia, Faculty of Humanities, Katowice Uniwersytecka 4 Street

Conference Fee

The conference fee for stationary active participation is PLN 650 / Euro 150. This fee covers lunches and dinners during the conference, attendance at lectures by invited international guests (including those held as part of the 9th Silesian Science Festival), coffee breaks, conference materials, and participation in a musical concert.

The fee for stationary passive participation is PLN 300 / Euro 70 and covers coffee breaks, attendance at conference sessions and lectures by guest speakers as an audience member, and participation in a concert.

The conference fee for students and doctoral students active participation is PLN 400 / Euro 100

The online (active and passive) participation fee is PLN 300 / Euro 60.

The organisers are planning a gala dinner on the conference’s second day. Participation in this event is subject to an additional fee of PLN 200 / Euro 45.

Publication of the conference paper is optional and requires an additional fee. Information about the fee amount will be sent to interested parties by email.

The Organisers will email details regarding payment and the publication of papers presented during the conference to those qualified to participate.
