Student ID Card (ELS)

First-year students wishing to obtain an electronic student ID card (ELS) (a physical card with a microchip) should pay 22 PLN into their individual student account—accessible via the USOS system under the "Settlements" tab—and send the proof of payment to the following address: ask.arch@pw.edu.pl

Pursuant to Article 74(4b)(1) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended), starting from 1 October 2025, all higher education institutions will issue an *mLegitymacja* (mobile student ID) available via the mObywatel app to all students holding a PESEL number. Meanwhile, upon a student's request, or for students who do not hold a PESEL number, institutions will issue an electronic student ID card (ELS). This means that holding an ELS is no longer a prerequisite for applying for an *mLegitymacja*.

What are the differences between the ELS and the *mLegitymacja*?
The ELS is a physical card with a microchip; its validity is extended in the system each semester, and a hologram sticker is applied to it.

Who will be unable to obtain an *mLegitymacja* despite the change in the law? International students who do not hold a PESEL number will not be able to obtain an *mLegitymacja*.

Students intending to use WUT (PW) dormitories or parking facilities will still be required to hold an ELS, as our access control systems currently require status verification via the ELS.
